Projekt: Mural für das Moxy Hotel Karlsruhe

Thema: Karlsruhe die Stadt der Innovation und Technik

 Wand in der Lobby 11,0 m x 2,85 m

Passend im „Moxystil“, erfrischend frech und etwas karikaturhaft überspitzt, eine Anspielung auf die Vergangenheit und die mögliche Zukunft der Stadt aus dem Blick eines fiktiven Piraten Karl der durch sein Fernrohr auf seine Stadt und deren Entwicklung wirft.

Ein Blick auf Karl Benz und die Entwicklung des Automobils, auf Freiherr von Drais der die Draisine, das erste Laufrad erfunden hat.

An einer Wäscheleine hängen Paragraphen als Anspielung auf die höchsten Gerichte in Karlsruhe, den Bundesgerichtshof (BGH) und das Bundesverfassungsgericht.

Weiter rechts ist die Legende der Gründung der Stadt Karlsruhe dargestellt. Angeblich lag der Markgraf Karl-Wilhelm von Baden unter einem Baum im Hartwald und hatte eine Vision von einer Fächerstadt mit einem Schloss als Zentrum (Gründung der Stadt 1715).

In der Pyramide am Marktplatz liegt er begraben.

Ein schwebender Brief  symbolisiert die Tatsache, dass die erste E-mail der Welt von Karlsruhe abgeschickt wurde. Karlsruhe ist seitdem auch als IT Stadt Deutschlands bekannt und die Entwicklung der KI ( künstlichen Intelligenz) endet als Karikatur einer humanoiden Prinzessin die im Schlosspark spaziert.

Appropriately in the „Moxy style“, refreshingly cheeky and somewhat cartoonishly exaggerated, an allusion to the past and possible future of the city from the perspective of a fictional pirate Karl, who looks at his city and its development through his telescope.

A look at Karl Benz and the development of the car, and Freiherr von Drais who invented the „Draisine“, the first running wheel.

Paragraphs are hanging on a clothesline as an allusion to the highest courts in Karlsruhe, the Federal High Court of Justice (BGH) and the Federal Constitutional Court.

Below is the legend of the founding of the city of Karlsruhe. Supposedly the Margrave Karl-Wilhelm of Baden was lying under a tree in the Hartwald and had a vision of a fan-shaped city with a castle as its center (founding of the city in 1715).

He is buried in the pyramid on the market square.

A letter with an email symbol symbolizes the fact that the world’s first email was sent from Karlsruhe. Since then, Karlsruhe has been known as the IT city of Germany and the development of AI (artificial intelligence) ends as a caricature of a humanoid princess walking in the castle park.
